The highly celebrated professional wrestler widely known across the global sports entertainment landscape by his official corporate ring name Trick Williams entered the world under his legal birth name Matrick Mondre Belton. He was born on May 26, 1994, in the prominent city of Columbia, which is located inside the borders of the state of South Carolina within the United States of America. Long before entering a squared circle, he spent the foundational years of his youth pursuing American football and completed his early education at Airport High School in West Columbia. He subsequently committed to higher education and advanced his academic and athletic paths by enrolling at Hampton University, where he played collegiate football as a wide receiver for the local team during the 2013 and 2014 seasons. He eventually transferred his academic credits to the University of South Carolina, continuing his gridiron journey by playing football for the South Carolina Gamecocks from 2016 through the conclusion of his collegiate eligibility in 2017. Following his collegiate years, he graduated from the University of South Carolina with a formal bachelor degree before briefly exploring professional football opportunities, which included attending a mini-camp for the Philadelphia Eagles in the National Football League. After his gridiron pursuits ended, he decided to shift his physical focus entirely toward professional wrestling, enrolling at the Combat Zone Wrestling Academy to master his in-ring fundamentals. World Wrestling Entertainment official scouts recognized his athletic profile and formally signed him to a developmental contract as a member of the corporate recruit class in February 2021. He officially reported to the physical WWE Performance Center training facility in Orlando, Florida, to learn the professional style. His wrestling career achieved a permanent milestone when he made his official televised debut on the September 14, 2021, episode of NXT, where he aligned himself as the on-screen partner of Carmelo Hayes. He made his official televised in-ring competition debut on the October 5, 2021, episode of NXT, teaming up with Carmelo Hayes in a tag team bout against opponents Duke Hudson and Ridge Holland. His singles wrestling journey reached a major permanent highlight when he won his first singles corporate title by defeating Dominik Mysterio to capture the NXT North American Championship at the NXT No Mercy special event on September 30, 2023. He further established his permanent place in corporate sports history by winning the 2024 Men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament alongside his tag team partner Carmelo Hayes, securing the trophy at the NXT Vengeance Day premium live event on February 4, 2024. He went on to win the biggest championship of his early career when he defeated Ilja Dragunov to win the NXT Championship for the first time at the NXT Spring Breakin’ special event on April 23, 2024.
