WWE has added Brock Lesnar's name to the Alumni section of their website.
This usually only happens when a wrestler officially retires or passes away because, to date, anyone WWE has placed in the Alumni section has never returned to in-ring competition.
Released 22 WWE top Superstar's in 2026
However, the way Brock Lesnar removed his gloves and then his boots at WrestleMania 42 is clear evidence that WWE didn’t put him in that section by their own choice; Brock Lesnar took retirement himself. Everyone watching—the public, the crowd, and the fans—was in total shock during that WrestleMania 42 scene where Brock hugged Paul Heyman.
But well, as they say, "for every champion, there is a challenger," and you’ve likely heard the proverb that "every rise has a fall." You surely remember WrestleMania 30 in 2014, when everyone was chanting "Undertaker, Undertaker," but after an F5 and a 1... 2... 3, Undertaker's streak was broken, and the record became 21-1. The shock the crowd felt back then was just like the shock felt a few days ago at WrestleMania 42.
While we are saying Brock Lesnar has retired, keep in mind that this is all a scripted storyline. Many social media reports are suggesting that Brock will have one last fight at SummerSlam 2026. To make SummerSlam 2026 truly grand, there couldn't be a bigger match than Brock fighting his finale against Gunther. Since news was also circulating that Brock was meant to retire at SummerSlam, perhaps WWE staged this "show" retirement at WrestleMania 42 just to add intensity to the script. The real retirement might happen at SummerSlam—at least, that’s my estimate based on the news and social reports I’ve seen.
John Cena is about to deliver news that will change everything.
