Imediately following WrestleMania 42, WWE has released a large number of wrestlers—upwards of 35 major superstars. These wrestlers will undoubtedly continue their careers elsewhere, whether in major or minor promotions.
However, according to reports, two tag teams and two major superstars are likely to join All Elite Wrestling (AEW) for several reasons, which we have detailed below:
First on our list is WWE’s most famous tag team, whose tenure is recorded as one of the longest in history. There is approximately a 90% chance of The New Day joining AEW.
Fans in WWE absolutely love this duo. From their unique entrance style to their comedic acting, their distinct flair could bring a new spark to AEW. AEW has always kept a keen eye on elite tag teams, often prioritizing them over singles competitors. The New Day would be a fantastic acquisition, as both members have extensive experience fighting together and possess incredible promo skills on the mic. AEW and its fans will likely make every effort to bring them in, though the final decision rests with the team.
2. Aleister Black (Malakai Black)
In second place is Aleister Black, whose second release from WWE shocked and saddened fans. Even more surprising are the reports suggesting he is already in talks to return to AEW.
Aleister Black masters a dark, gothic atmosphere; his entrance style, the "dark night" lighting, and his music all evoke a sense of dread. Tony Khan is known to appreciate this style of character. Since Black previously worked in AEW as Malakai Black, reports suggest that fans are eagerly awaiting his return, confident that he will make a comeback.
3. Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley)
Third is the Motor City Machine Guns, consisting of Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley, who joined WWE only a year or two ago. Their release was a genuine surprise because the team was still relatively new to the company. They had barely scratched the surface of what they could achieve in WWE, where they likely would have set great records.
MCMG could truly shine in AEW. The promotion is always in need of high-level talent, and Sabin and Shelley can deliver incredible matches. For instance, if they were to enter a feud with The Young Bucks, it would likely go down as one of the greatest rivalries in AEW history. While WWE didn't give them enough time to showcase their full potential, AEW tends to give such talented veterans the platform they deserve.
4. Kairi Sane
For the fourth spot, Kairi Sane has been released by WWE for a second time. Her departure has deeply upset fans, live crowds, and especially Asuka, who was inseparable from her. Remember the cries of "Kairiiiiiii!"?
Kairi Sane is an exceptionally gifted wrestler with a diverse skill set: high-flying abilities, incredible resilience, and great natural acting. AEW is in dire need of powerful, experienced female stars. If Kairi decides to stay in the USA and joins AEW, it would be a huge honor and a massive success for the promotion.
Other Potential Signings
While the stars mentioned above have the highest probability, other wrestlers who could potentially jump to AEW include:
- Zelina Vega (potentially reuniting with Malakai Black)
- Bo Dallas
- Erick Rowan
- Nikki Cross
- Or even the entire Wyatt Sicks faction.
